BC Patient Safety & Quality Council Supports CPSI and WHO in "Safe Surgery Saves Lives"
The BC Patient Safety & Quality Council is pleased to support the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI) and the World Health Organization's (WHO) efforts to improve the safety of surgery in Canada and across the globe.
Safe Surgery Saves Lives is a challenge established by the World Health Organization's World Alliance for Patent Safety. The Canadian Patient Safety Institute, in collaboration with 15 in-county organizations, led the adaption of this campaign to the Canadian context. The overall strategy is to define standards for surgical care in the form of a checklist, to develop a voluntary measurement system to monitor progress, and to create practical tools to assist Health Authorities with implementation.
