Cochrane Library Now Available Across Canada

July 16, 2009

The Cochrane Library is now freely available to all Canadians for a trial period ending December 31, 2009. This pilot, bringing high quality information on health interventions to the public, is a joint initiative of the Canadian Cochrane Network and Centre and the Canadian Health Libraries Association / Association des bibliothèques de la santé du Canada (CHLA/ABSC) and was made possible by building on the leadership of the existing subscribers from provinces, territories and institutions across Canada.

This national license makes all of the Cochrane resources available to everyone.

The systematic reviews in the Cochrane Library are considered to be the best quality evidence for what works and what doesn't in many health care interventions/treatments. Now anyone in Canada can access these reviews and other types of health care information online. Cochrane reviews, while written for health care professionals, include easy to read summaries written for the general public.
