Stroke & TIA Collaborative
September 19, 2011 - June 19, 2012
(Registration deadline - August 31, 2011)In BC, stroke is the leading cause of acquired long-term disability in adults, and third leading cause of death. Given the complexity of stroke care, everyone treating stroke patients can find ways to improve quality.
Joining the Stroke & TIA Collaborative will help you improve patient outcomes, as you work together with teams across the province to improve three major aspects of stroke care:
- Reduce the percent of ischemic stroke patients who die in hospital, or are admitted to a long-term care facility
- Improve the percent of all acute ischemic stroke patients that receive thrombolytic therapy
- Improve the percent of TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) patients who present in the ED that are properly referred to an organized secondary prevention service
