Shari joined the Council in January 2011 as Quality Leader, supporting Clinical Care Management. Prior to this, she served as Professional Practice Leader for Respiratory Therapy at Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, where she supported evidence-based practice, clinical research, and interdisciplinary education. Under her guidance and leadership, she established and published a competency assessment and learning framework for Respiratory Therapists—translating skills within a consistent and measurable matrix, and improving quality of respiratory care for acute, rehabilitation, diagnostics and residential areas within Vancouver. She has led numerous patient safety and quality improvement initiatives and shared that knowledge with an extensive multidisciplinary network of care providers across North America.

Shari’s experience in developing and implementing best-practice guidelines brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role with the Council. She will be supporting the provincial implementation of Clinical Care Management in the prevention of venous thromboembolism as well as best practice for the care of critically ill patients.

Shari is a Registered Respiratory Therapist with 15 years of critical care experience, and has received a fellowship designation from the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists for her significant contribution to the profession. She has completed training in Quality Improvement methodology from the Institute of Healthcare Improvement, and received her Master's of Arts in Learning & Technology from Royal Roads University in 2011.
