Devin Harris, CCFP (EM), MHSc., PhD (candidate)
Dr. Devin Harris joined the Council in January 2011, as the Stroke/TIA Clinical Lead. He has been involved in numerous quality improvement and evaluation initiatives directed at care for patients with stroke and transient ischemic attack. He is on the Steering Committee of the British Columbia Stroke Strategy (BCSS) and is currently the Chair of the Measurement and Evaluation Committee of the BCSS.
Dr. Harris chaired Vancouver Coastal Health’s Stroke and TIA Emergency Department Protocol Working Group, and has been involved with the Canadian Stroke Strategy, on the Best Practices Working Group and the Evaluation Working Group. Recently, he was nominated as the Chair of the Stroke Emergency Medicine Practice Committee for the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. Harris is a Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, UBC and a Staff Emergency Physician, St. Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver. He has authored numerous publications, spoken, and been an investigator for multiple studies on the management of patients with transient ischemic attack and stroke. He is currently completing a PhD in the School of Population and Public Health, UBC, with a focus on stroke health services research.
Originally from Penticton, BC, he completed medical school, residency and graduate studies at UBC.
