Dr David Sweet joined the Council in January 2011, as the Sepsis Clinical Lead. He has completed fellowship positions in both Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Medicine at the University of British Columbia. He currently holds attending positions in both specialties at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH). With his interests in Emergency Department management of Sepsis he designed the VGH sepsis protocol and implemented it in 2006.

Additionally, he is the lead sepsis consultant for the Evidence to Excellence collaborative which has implemented sepsis protocols in emergency rooms throughout British Columbia. He continues to be a local educator and expert in the field of sepsis and septic shock management.
